Steven Spielberg won’t ‘direct’ Nancy Pelosi

It looks like Steven Spielberg is trying to distance himself from the idea that he's informally advising Nancy Pelosi.

A day after the Washington Post reported that Pelosi was consulting Spielberg on how to rebuild her image, a spokesman for the director has offered up a nondenial denial.

"He has made it his career to direct actors, not political figures," Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy tells the Hollywood Reporter's David Ciminelli.

While the Reporter's headline says Spielberg won't be advising Pelosi, there seems to be a little wiggle room there. After all, Spielberg was also said to have given his pal Bill Clinton nuggets of informal advice during his presidency. He also consulted on a biographical film of John Kerry that aired at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

A Pelosi spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
