Virginia Thomas to step down from conservative group

Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, is stepping down from the conservative group she founded less than a year ago, citing "distractions" caused by her celebrity, the Washington Post reports.

"She'll take a back seat so that Liberty Central can continue with its mission without any of the distractions," a spokeswoman told the Post. "After discussing it with the board, Mrs. Thomas determined that it was best for the organization."

Thomas made national headlines recently for calling Anita Hill and asking for an apology 20 years after Hill accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during the justice's confirmation hearings.
