Wednesday in politics: Bill Clinton takes the stage at DNC, and more

It's Bill Clinton night at the Democratic National Convention. The popular former president gives the nomination speech for President Barack Obama.

What to expect from Clinton? A tell-it-like-it-is, conversational tense and tone aimed at helping Obama energize convention delegates, and, more importantly for the president, the voters watching from home — especially the undecided voters.

Clinton's message: Stay the course. Obama's policies have put the economy on a path to recovery. That 2008-style hope is alive in 2012.

Other convention speakers to watch out for on Wednesday include U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren; women's rights activist Sandra Fluke (Will Rush Limbaugh be watching?); House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi; and Rep. Barney Frank.

While the Democrats are revving up in Charlotte, Ann Romney will hold a "Women for Mitt Rally" in Findlay, Ohio, and Paul Ryan will attend a "Victory Rally" in Adel, Iowa.

And then there is this: The former president isn't the only Clinton at the Charlotte convention. Chelsea Clinton, an NBC special correspondent, will moderate a "Conversations with the Next Generation" town hall hosted by the National Journal and The Atlantic.
