High school basketball player asks student with Down syndrome to prom

A high school basketball player is getting a lot of good attention off the court for a supersweet gesture. Prom-posals are all the rage these days, and Trey Moses from Lousiville, Ky., took to Twitter to share his. He tweeted photos of himself and his date along with the caption, “Decided to ask my best friend to prom.”

The girl in the photos is his pal and fellow Eastern High School student Ellie Meredith, who has Down syndrome.

Ellie’s mom said of her daughter’s prom date, “You don’t expect high school seniors to have that much thought about a kid with special needs.”

Moses’ original tweet has gotten a lot of love, with more than 7,000 favorites. He said of the newfound Internet fame, “Wasn't expecting the publicity with this, but since I have it I hope everyone else starts to work with special needs, it’ll change you.”
