Mia Fitzharris at Trending Now 1 yr ago

A heartbreaking photo is making its way around the web.  The picture shows a Houston police officer comforting his dying patrol horse.   The four-year-old horse, named Charlotte, was patrolling Downtown Houston on Thursday with her rider Officer D. Herrejon.  She was spooked, bucked the officer and ran into the street where she was hit by a truck.   Officer Herrejon got down on the floor and wrapped his arms around Charlotte during her final moments. She later died.

Having a baby can be a scary proposition. To that end, Judy and Gavin Holt decided to let all of their friends and family know they were expecting a little bundle of joy —  by scaring the pants off of them! The Holts’ spoof of a horror-movie trailer starts innocently enough: A happy couple is moving into their new home, but soon, as in all horror movies, things take a turn for the worse. “I can feel it grow inside of me,” whispers Judy over ominous music. “What’s happening to me?” Many scary moments later, there is the big reveal: “Baby Holt Coming March 2016” “My wife let me have free reign [sic] on our ‘announcement’ video … I may have cursed my house,” Gavin Holt wrote in his Reddit post. We tip our hats to Gavin for including a bun-in-the-oven scene and a close-up of Prego spaghetti sauce. Well played.

  • What should be Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Apprentice' catchphrase?

Emily Scharnhorst at Trending Now 1 yr ago

Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host of NBC’s "Celebrity Apprentice". The twice-elected California governor and international movie superstar begins his boardroom duties in the 2016-17 season.

Former host, Donald Trump famously said, "You're fired" at the end of every episode. Arnold’s movies are famous for his one-liners. Do any of them contain a potential catchphrase for his new show?

Take a guess and see if you know what movies that made these one-liners famous:

    (1) You’re fired

    (2) Hasta la vista, baby

    (3) Don’t give up your day job

    (4) Oh, poor baby.

    (5) Stop whining!

    (6) You’re confusion is not rational.

    (7) Talk to the hand.

    (8) Put a sock in it! I don’t care who does what to your Hershey highway and stop shouting I’m not deaf!

    (9) You kids are soft!

    (10) You lack discipline!

    (11) I’m afraid my condition has left me cold to your plea of mercy.

    (12) You're not going to have your mommies here to wipe your tushies. Oh, no. It's time to turn this mush into muscles.

  • Actors attempt to recite Shakespeare after eating super-hot chili peppers

Gwen Breitstein at Trending Now 1 yr ago

What do you get when you combine hot peppers and Shakespeare? One interesting video. For her new video series, #ChilliMonologues, director and photographer Rosie Collins brought together a brave group of actors to eat some super-hot peppers before reciting some of the Bard’s most famous lines. The actors munched on a variety of peppers, including jalapeños, a Scotch bonnet, a ghost pepper and a Komodo Dragon chili. The reactions to the dangerously hot peppers varied from actor to actor, but their pain was evident throughout their performances, with some crying and others guzzling milk to try to numb their suffering. Collins said she was inspired to film actors doing something with chilies after learning that the Komodo Dragon pepper, Britain’s hottest commercially grown chili pepper, would be sold in the U.K.   So why Shakespeare? According to Collins, it was “such an obvious fit” due to the reactions she was expecting from her actors after they ate the peppers. “It started out as a bit of a joke, but it’s been really interesting watching how different people react to the chilies; how it affects their performance,” Collins told the Daily Mail. “Some of them really...

  • WATCH: Cheerleaders' 9/11 themed tribute routine goes viral

Gwen Breitstein at Trending Now 1 yr ago

A video of a high school cheerleading squad is going viral for all the wrong reasons. The Lumberton High School cheerleaders are under fire for their 9/11 themed cheer routine, which features audio from live news reports from the day of the attack, the song “God Bless the USA” and comments made by President George W. Bush. The squad, from Lumberton, Texas, performed the routine on Friday, the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. One of the cheerleaders shared the video on Twitter, writing “The Lumberton cheerleaders would like you to watch our appreciation & acknowledgement for the ones effected [sic] in 9/11.” The tribute has been met with mixed emotions, while some say the performance left them speechless, others have called it tasteless to be tumbling to the sounds of audio reports from the day the towers fell. The LHS cheerleaders have performed a 9/11 tribute routine every year since 2002, and this year has been no different. The squad’s coach, Lauren Sheffield, told Buzzfeed News that she and the cheerleaders take the routine “very seriously.” “We do this because we believe it is very important to honor and remember the first responders, those who gave their lives...
