Ancient Whale Bones Discovered in Desert, Parents Outraged by Hooters Waitress’s Visit to Special-Needs School

Paleontologists in Chile have made a surprising discovery in the desert. Scientists uncovered what appears to be a massive graveyard of whale bones in AP ImagesCopiapo, more than a half-mile from the ocean. More than 80 whales, including 25 complete skeletons, were found in one of the driest deserts in the world. There is currently a construction project to widen the highway near the Atacama Desert, where the bones were found. Scientists believe the bones could be between 2 million and 7 million years old. So how did the whales make their way from the ocean to the desert and end up so close to one another when they died? Scientists have many theories: Maybe the area was once a lagoon and it dried up, maybe there was a giant wave that flung the whales onto shore, or maybe a giant earthquake sealed them off. Whale bones were not the only find for the paleontologists. A dolphin carcass with walrus-like tusks was also uncovered. Scientists say this discovery gives them a glimpse of ancient sea life. One paleontologist said, "The fossils are exceptionally well preserved and quite complete--a rare combination in paleontology and one that will likely shed light on many facets of the . . . ecology and evolution of these extinct species." People on social media are debating creationism vs. evolution theories. Some people are just waiting for a scientific explanation. Still others are saying they should "accept the biblical account of the flood."

Parents in Clearwater, Florida, are upset after a certain speaker was brought in to talk to their kids at school. Brittany Morgan, a Hooters waitress, spoke during "the Great American Teach-In," a career event at the special-needs school. Morgan discussed looking presentable at work, tipping, and Hooters charity work with the students at Calvin A. Hunsinger School. She did not wear the Hooters uniform (skimpy orange shorts, low-cut white tank top, flesh-toned hosiery, white socks, and white sneakers) to speak in front of the kids. One parent was still disturbed, saying, "It's just the wrong message . . . like we're telling them that you're the bad kids and this is all you'll be in life." Some people on Twitter agree, saying, "Can we raise the bar for kids' aspirations?" Morgan said she understands why the parents might be upset, but that there was nothing inappropriate about her speech. Morgan added, "Most of us are going to school. We're aspiring to do other things in life. This isn't our career." The principal of Hunsinger, Stephani Bessette, defended Morgan's appearance, saying "Working as a waiter or waitress to achieve higher goals should be commended." Hooters states that its mission is "to provide a family of hospitality and services that achieves excellence and enhances lifestyles of all who come in contact with the Hooters brand."

Is great, Religious Books worth to be trusted since its Origin is Authentic even if many people deny that truth, and the article might be placed together b/se some time becomes difficult to make intelligent decision between the environment and and its events

        Whale hooters?
      • BAlexander 6 mths ago
Hahaha. I thought the same thing. There's not even a split in the story, they're conglomerated as if they are one.

I live in California, 15 miles inland. I can hike two miles uphill into the San Gabriel mountains behind my house and find seashells embedded in the cliffs. Not THAT hard to figure out that this area was once underwater. Knew it when I was a kid!

Anyone ever head of the term FOSSIL FUELS? You ever wonder where that term came from????? It is because MASSIVE amounts of plant and animal life got covered up by the Biblical flood laying down sediment and dirt and formed oil, coal and natural gas. Finding a BUNCH of animals GROUPED togeather in a dessert should be no surprise to a creationist. Furthermore it is SCIENTIFIC fact that when animals die in water, like groups sink and float togeather because they have the same composition. Thus reptiles would sink FIRST making it look like they evolved first with mamials being last. I am not surprised that the AIR breathing animals like dolphins and whales also died via drowning en mass and ended up togeather. The 'flat earth' evolutionists are AGAIN confused and this story is easily explainable via the Flood.

        I agree Rick! Good post.
      • Joe 6 mths ago
Rick, not to poke holes in your theory, but how did the fossil fuels get buried miles underground, and in places like the middle of the ocean, and miles underground at that? And, how are there layers upon layers of dirt between the reptiles that "floated differently" and the animals that didn't float the same?

Also, how do you explain the other flood stories that appear from a time BEFORE the actual biblical flood was supposed to have occurred? I guess they aren't real, just because they weren't in the Bible.... Or maybe, just maybe, the Biblical stories are BASED on the flood stories (like Gilgamesh) that came before it. God does not ignore the culture and history of the rest of the world just to fit into your idealized version of him. He's a lot more complicated than how the Bible portrays him.

Wait! So Hooters fossils were found buried in a Special Needs school???????
      • greg 6 mths ago
I don't see why not. After all the old fossils I've seen at Hooter's, some of them could be considered whales!
      • Afrodisiac 6 mths ago
Greg, are you kidding me? The best found fossils is if the Hooters are willing to let the hooter girls go butt naked. That's when we definitely find out if the kids really need special needs attention.
      • woody 6 mths ago
no,special needs whales got lost looking for the nearest hooters

And don't forget Sasha Grey. Anyone whose seen her in a porno knows she is an intelligent and funny person. She's a cool person and all the fuss about her reading to kids is silly.

I'm 50 now . My mother worked 20 years as a waitress, then another 10 as a bus driver before opening her own small business. all those who created this controversy should maybe be teaching their kids to find work where ever it is . don't sit by and cry if the perfect one is not there right now as tomorrow will bring somthing new . Most successful people have worked many service jobs . it didn't make them unworthy and if parents instill a sense of worth to their childrten they will succeed no matter which job they start out in.

I know for a fact that many servers and waiters went on to own the resturant they worked in, and give others gainful employment..
      • Darrell 6 mths ago
Its a lack of self-respect issue centering on inappropriate clothing, its not the waitressing part. Though she didn't wear her "uniform" to the school, its what she represents that parents object to. Who can object to parents teaching their kids morals? A waitress is one thing, a young lady wearing tight clothing intended to reveal certain body parts while waitressing is another. Please don't force-feed the parents that they have to sit down and accept this. It is easily objectionable.
      • Richard 6 mths ago
I don't know what they wear at Hooters. I have never visited one. Look at many TV commercials and notice what they where. Making a living to support yourself or family is not a bad thing. This girl took the time to visit the school, Thats my kind of girl, helping educate people. Keep working Girls!

As to the Hooters story...When minimum wage was barely over three dollars an hour, I was making 14 dollars an hour (at minimum) waiting tables. I raised my three children with those wages. While it's not the income of a doctor or attorney, it was more than adequate for our needs. It's hard work, and takes skill to do well, like any profession. Three cheers for all you hard working servers!!!

They work 8 hours like anyone else and make great money in a bad economy. Where is the problem?
    • James  •  Phoenix, United States  •  5 mths ago
the whale bones is cool. but the hooters outrage is ridiculous. what message? I grew up in the southern baptist south enviroment, and always heard this from adults about hooters, how unmoral it was.
When I actually went to a hooters, I was a little dissapointed, you mean this ugly outfit is what the hype is about?
Seriously, those goofy socks, tan colored stockings, orange and white t-shirt? I've seen more seductive clothing in church's.
People need to give it a rest, hooters is a restraunt, not a strip club, not a brothel. and the food isn't even that good.
If retards making a big fuss about the women working there didn't whine and cry, it probably wouldn't even be as popular.
These women need to get over their insecurities and focus on all the other real dangers their kids face in every day living.
Not a women taking time out of her own life to talk about how to succeed while leaving out the part about the goofy outfit.

Having started out washing dishes, pots and pans, bussing tables, waiting tables, and doing short order cooking at a truck stop, I have to wonder why they're denigrating this as a job, especially a starting job in order to get experience and work your way through school.

I finished college with no student loan debt as a result of working my way through.

Now, 35 years later, I own a business that employs 7, I have no debt, personal or business, and I have 7 figures in Savings.

I've also raised a Special Needs daughter, having taught her that there's always dignity in honest labor for an honest wage.

So while I wouldn't tell her to go work at Hooters, the young lady that made the presentation evidently showed up dressed appropriately and talked to them about honest labor in pursuit of goals.

I'd bet she's a good employee to have working for her employer.

What exactly makes that a topic for controversy?

I guess these parents are telling their kids that they will all be rock stars and rocket scientists. The truth is a lot of them will wind up being waiters and waitresses.
    • James  •  6 mths ago
You know what's fun??? Use the headline as a "word game." Rearranging the words in this headline to mean something completely different. Special needs waitress.. Whale hooters.. School outraged..
