Children return our faith in the season

Knowing this, IKEA in Spain conducted a holiday experiment for its recent campaign.

It gathered 10 families and asked the children from each to jot down two Christmas wish lists.

The first was written to “The Three Kings,” which is the Spanish equivalent to Santa. The second Christmas wish list was for their parents.

The difference between the letters is heartwarming.

The letters they wrote to the Three Kings are full of the usual requests of children for unicorns and extravagant toys.

The letters they wrote to their parents, though, were for things that only a parent can give a child — love, attention and comfort.

IKEA’s little experiment may show both kids and parents that what children really want to fill their home this holiday season isn’t necessarily found under a tree. It’s what surrounds it.

A loving home, according to the children in this ad, is the best Christmas gift of all.
