Commuters Band Together to Rescue Man Trapped Between Train and Platform

You know those "mind the gap" signs at train stations that warn riders of the dangerous space between the car and the platform? Well, one man didn't take heed, but luckily his fellow passengers came to his rescue.

This video shows a man getting stuck in the gap while boarding a train at a Perth station during the tail end of the Wednesday morning commute to work.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes explains to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation News, "He stood in the doorway and as he was sort of taking up his position there, one leg slipped outside the door, slipped outside the gap, and he was stuck."

The driver was alerted to make sure the train didn't move. Other commuters started to gather, and then they banded together to push the car, tilting it up just enough so the man could free his leg and get on the train.

Hynes added, "It was people power that saved someone from possibly quite serious injury."
