Cyclist Has Close Call When Two Vehicles Collide

Someone is giving extra thanks to the bike gods today! In an incredibly close call with death, a Russian cyclist found himself caught in the middle of a collision between a delivery truck and a car, but luckily he managed to walk away unharmed.

The incident occurred about 40 minutes south of Moscow's city center on Sept. 19. It was recorded on the city's CCTV cameras, which were installed for the "Safe City" surveillance project.

In the video, a man is riding his bike through a crosswalk when suddenly a delivery truck collides with a red car that was driving parallel with the biker. It appears that the delivery truck ignored the right of way and darted across the intersection, smashing into the red car. Debris from both vehicles flies, and the delivery truck tips, balances briefly on two wheels, and then quickly rolls over. Miraculously, the cyclist is not hit by the red car, which spins out of control, but he is knocked off his bike by the brush of the truck's front bumper as it is rolling over.

Immediately after the incident, the rider gets to his knees, looks around, and runs to check on the other parties involved — presumably with a lot of adrenaline pumping through his body. The dramatic video was posted to LiveLeak, which might account for the fact that it has been viewed more than 1.4 million times.
