After his self-imposed hiatus from the entertainment industry, comedy legend Dave Chappelle has recently returned to the spotlight, performing at selected shows. He even went back to the Oddball Festival on Aug. 23 in Hartford, Conn., where he stunned audience members last year as he exited the stage during his set, upset by ongoing heckling and constant crowd noise, choosing never to return to the Connecticut city.
While finishing up his own set on stage, comedian Louis C.K. introduced Chappelle to a happily roaring crowd. Chappelle apologized, saying, "I did not think I would ever come back to Hartford again. It was a year ago tonight. I had 364 nights to think about that fatal night, one year ago ... I was really immature about what happened." He even thanked the audience for not booing him.
After he apologized, Chappelle continued his set by poking fun at North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, President Barack Obama, and a tryst with a much, much older woman. If you're a fan, you'll appreciate this 16-minute clip of off-the-cuff and unrehearsed material.
Chappelle's recent appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in June, when he discussed music and his first encounter with rapper Kanye West, is one of my favorite Chappelle moments.
If you have any memorable Chappelle moments, from either his standup shows, "Chapelle's Show," or interviews, please share them with us on Facebook and Twitter.
