Did a Man in a Scarf Overshadow the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch Announcements?

One of the most anticipated global tech announcements of the year took place Tuesday at the unveiling of the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch, which were hotly anticipated by fans and consumers alike and could potentially change the game in the smartphone universe, once again. But a surprising star at the big release of Apple's new gadgets is the infinity scarf worn by Dutch gaming executive Tommy Krul, which we have coolly dubbed the "iScarf."

At the keynote presentation in Cupertino, Calif., Krul was performing a demo of his company Super Evil Megacorp's brand-new smartphone video game called Vainglory. The MOBA game is cool with big sound, amazing graphics, and a lot of things that blow up, but the audience didn't seem to care as much as expected. The purple, oversized knit scarf that Krul was rockin' stole the show.

Many audience members focused their attention on Krul and the scarf by punching out comical tweets and prepping for the current social media frenzy. One commenter stated that the software exec had the look and chicness of Mr. Gwen Stefani, aka Gavin Rossdale of '90s rock band Bush, and rocker Lenny Kravitz, who is never shy to roll with an oversized neckerchief.

Krul told MailOnline, "I often wear scarves, it's funny." Perhaps it depends on what kind of scarf you wear and where you wear it? Most certainly among an audience for whom fashion is often on the back burner, a scarf would be funny. Perhaps Krul is going for a look atypical to Silicone Valley (e.g., soft-blue shirt and cream-colored khakis). He obviously dares to be different, which had some users wanting to know whether he was romantically attached or available. Reports say that he is not single. Sorry ladies. Or gentlemen.

Several fake Twitter accounts have already popped up, with handles like "@purpleScarfGuy" and "@applescarfguy." Some people on Twitter are even using the hashtag "#scarfguy." And because Krul is obviously "gangsta" among his peers, maybe he should adopt the handle "@Scarfface."
