Fitness magazine features plus-size model on the cover

It’s a pretty common misconception that all runners are skinny, but that is truly not the case.

Women’s Running magazine featured New York City runner and plus-size model Erica Schenk on the cover of its August 2015 issue, to smash misconceptions and embrace all types of runners.

“There’s a stereotype that all runners are skinny, and that’s just not the case,” the magazine’s editor in chief, Jessica Sebor, told Today.com.

“I had no idea I was going to be on the cover! I was told afterwards [after her photo shoot] that I would be on the cover,” Erica wrote in an email to E! News. “I was initially stunned. I thought it would be a big deal, but it turned out to be a MUCH bigger deal than I thought it would be!”

People are loving the cover. Runners of all shapes and sizes have tweeted their thanks to the magazine for featuring Erica on the cover.
