High school student brings her 80-year-old grandfather to his first prom
Meet James Drain, an 80-year-old grandfather who never had the chance to attend prom — or wear a tuxedo.
Until now.
When his granddaughter, Joy Webb, found out her “Poppa” didn’t get to go to the prom as a teen, she asked him to be her date.
“She said, ‘Hey, will you come to the prom with me and be my beau?’ And I said, ‘I sure will,’” Drain told WHNT-TV.
Before asking her grandfather to prom, Webb got permission from her high school in Albertville, Ala.
“My family is everything to me, and I love him so much, and it’s just like really special to me because I know not many people get to do that. And I know he loves me and I love him, and it’s just really neat and special,” Webb said to WHNT-TV.
This heartwarming story proves that you are never too old to go to your first prom. We’re sure it will be a night to remember!
