New Idaho Business Provides Venue for Customers to Break Stuff

Das Breakroom

is a new business in Boise, Idaho, that opened on Tax Day. The premise behind the establishment is certainly unique but relatively simple.

"Our sole purpose is to provide a place for people to engage in recreational destruction," business owner Tom Farrenkopf told KBOI TV in Boise. "What we mean by that is, come in and break stuff."

Yes, Das Breakroom is a room provides a room where for as little as a few dollars, you can take your stress out on all types of items: computer monitors, electronics, glass doors, dishes, and musical equipment, for example. As the business stated on Facebook, "If you buy it, you break it!"

"The one day, actually I was having a horrible week, and I found myself on the verge of tears," customer Lindsey Shultz told KBOI. "I was pacing back and forth like, 'What am I going to do? I'm so frustrated right now.'"

Shultz brought her frustration to Das Breakroom.

"I just broke an entire box full of stuff, and 10 minutes later I felt perfect," she said. "It's a lot cheaper than some of the stuff I'd want to break in my own home to be honest."

Farrenkopf, who goes by the nickname "Boxes," provides customers with a venue, items to destroy, and safety equipment. Customers can use different items such as a hammer or a baseball bat to destroy various objects. Farrenkopf holds Das Happy Hour from 7-9 a.m. and from 4-6 p.m., with discounted prices as low as $1 per item. There is also a black light party package, for which all the items are coated with a special paint and burst with color in the room when they are smashed.

The owner definitely thought outside of the box for this business model, as if he smashed the box with a foreign object or something. You could say he smashed the box to pieces.
