Rupert Murdoch’s Wife Lays the Smack Down, Air Conditioned Clothes, and the Two And A Half Men Switch-Up

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been pulled into the middle of the British phone-hacking scandal by the News Corp.-owned tabloid the News of the World. Though Murdoch was the one in the hot seat at a British parliamentary hearing yesterday, his wife, Wendi Deng, stole the show. When amateur comedian Jonathan May Bowles (who goes by Johnny Marbles) tried to hit Murdoch in the face with a pie of shaving cream, Wendi was the first to spring to action. She smacked her husband's attacker in the face, and now her right "hook" is being celebrated across social media. One tweeter asked whether Wendi is available for parties (as the bouncer), and another said, "Wendi Deng just became Wendi DAAAAAAAAAAANG." Several Facebook pages devoted to Deng's smack-down have popped up, of course, and Deng-mania has even reached China (where she was born and raised). Chinese bloggers have given her names like "tiger woman" and "Charlie's Angel." In case you were wondering, Deng used to play volleyball, which explains her mean "spike."

Over 1,000 heat records have been broken in the U.S. in the past month, and people are looking for any way they can to cool down. That's why "buying air conditioned clothes" is spiking in Yahoo! Search, especially in sweltering Texas and New York. Air-conditioned clothes seem too good to be true, right? Well the Japanese have made it a reality. One company developed a jacket equipped with cooling fans that costs about $150. You can even buy them online at japantrendshop.com. It's sizzling in New York right now, but I'm going to hold off before getting an air-conditioned jacket. A coat in the summer just seems counterintuitive to me, even if it has fans.

And finally, five months after Charlie Sheen was fired, "Two and a Half Men" unveiled its new billboard featuring his replacement, Ashton Kutcher. It's prominently displayed at the show's studio in L.A. In it, Kutcher and his two co-stars stand naked, teasing the premiere date of the show. It's a pretty simple ad that CBS plans to alter all the way up to the premiere, but the Web has beaten it to the punch. Photoshopped versions of the picture have popped up online poking fun at Kutcher, Sheen, and the show overall.
