Taylor Swift Surprises Ohio Fan at Her Bridal Shower

Taylor Swift spent Saturday evening in New York City. With her friend and former tourmate Ed Sheeran performing on "Saturday Night Live," Swift was not only in attendance but also made a cameo during host Seth Rogan's opening monologue.

But if you pegged the 24-year-old to stick around Sunday for a trendy brunch in the West Village, think again. Instead the songstress hopped aboard a plane, flew to Columbus, Ohio, and surprised a fan during her bridal shower.

"There's this girl named Gena who's been coming to my shows for years, and she's been really, really dedicated and very loyal," Swift explained in a video diary she posted about the trip on her YouTube channel. "I was at the management office the other day, and we were going through fan mail and invitations and stuff. And I got this wedding invitation, and I noticed I couldn't make it to the wedding. But in the wedding invitation, there was a bridal shower invitation. And I've never been to a bridal shower. So we're going to fly to Ohio today."

The bride-to-be is 26-year-old Gena Camerlengo. The fact that she would take the time to track down an address for Swift and mail an invitation tells you she is a big fan. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Camerlengo developed a relationship with Swift through meet-and-greets and other live events. The singer is known to send personalized thank you notes following concert meet-and-greets, so the idea that she would remember a fan after meeting them multiple times is not unfathomable.

In the video, Swift enters the venue with a friend and gifts in tow. The singer turns a corner and spots Camerlengo, whose jaw immediately drops. The bride-to-be then brings Swift into the room, where friends and family were equally surprised. Later they were joined by Camerlengo's fiancé, Bryan, who also met the singer.

Perhaps Swift checked the registry ahead of time, as she brought a KitchenAid Stand Mixer and Le Creuset cookware for Camerlengo. She also baked homemade chocolate chip cookies and hand-painted a sign with the bride and groom's names under "It's A Love Story," a nod to her 2008 hit song.

According to Camerlengo's Twitter account, management told the singer she would not be able to make the shower.

"Apparently they told Taylor she didn't have time and she said no I'm going to Ohio I can't make the wedding & I promised her (sic)," Camerlengo posted. In an earlier tweet, she posted a photo with the caption, "Taylor left! But today was amazing! Thank you for making today even more special."

Swift used selfies that the girls took to end the four-and-a-half minute video of the day, along with a message: "Dearest Gena, Thank you for inviting me to your bridal shower… and for inviting me in to your life. (Since 2007!!!)" The clip went live Wednesday, and has over 520,000 views.
