If you knew you only had a limited number of months or years to live, how would you occupy your time? That's a question that many of us hope to never face. Sadly, it's a reality that 17-year-old Zach Sobiech is dealing with right now. In 2009, Zach of Lakeland, Minn., felt a pain in his hip, and it persisted so he went to the doctor. It was at the doctor's office that Zach was diagnosed with a rare form of osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Zach underwent chemotherapy and several surgeries in attempt to rid him of his illness, but to no avail.
Recently, Zach was told that he may only have months or at most a year to live after cancer had spread to his lungs and pelvis. There are no known effective treatments that can cure him. So instead of letting his diagnosis keep him down, he's getting the most that he can out of the limited amount of time that he has left.
Zach began writing songs, recording them and uploading videos of himself on YouTube as a way to say goodbye to his family and friends. His latest upload, "Clouds" is gaining popularity as people are finding his story inspirational and courageous. The video begins with the question, "When faced with months to live, how do you say goodbye?"
Commenters on YouTube are leaving Zach words of encouragement, with one person writing, "you're making many positive little ripples through many lives."
