YouTube Group Recreates 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Theme as a '90s R&B Song

You will never listen to your favorite Saturday morning cartoon theme songs the same way after watching this.

Scott Bradlee, perhaps most known for his Postmodern Jukebox band, is also releasing a series of Saturday morning cartoon themes reinterpreted as '90s R&B songs. Along with a group of other musicians, Bradlee is tackling a new theme every week and appropriately uploading it to YouTube on Saturday morning.

"Pokémon" was the first target of "Saturday Morning Slow Jams." Next for the group was a remix of the "DuckTales" theme, which has since been viewed over a million times. Bradlee and company also tackled the theme to "Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers." On Saturday the band released a new production that was inspired by an upcoming box office release.

"This week, in honor of the upcoming movie, Drue Davis offers a '90s hip-hop take on an old favorite: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," he wrote in the video's description. Bradlee playing piano, along with Steve Sweat on an electronic wind instrument, Bennett Miller on bass, and Allan Mednard behind the drums accompany Davis' vocals. Davis used the theme's original chorus and added his own rap verses.

The latest video from the group of cartoon aficionados has almost 140,000 views, and many people are reminiscing on not just their Saturday mornings of yesteryear but the '90s in general.

"Man this takes me back," Jason Bautista commented. "Reminds me of old school Blackstreet."

If nothing else, Bradlee and his crew now take their place alongside Vanilla Ice for the most infamous raps about turtles in a half shell. Go, ninja, go!
