The 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Trailer Has Leaked

So much for preserving the sanctity of the theatrical experience! On Jan. 29, Game of Thrones: The IMAX Experience premiered in IMAX-enabled cinemas around the country, showcasing the final two episodes from the HBO blockbuster's fourth season, plus the debut of an all-new trailer teasing Season 5. That same day, the trailer leaked online via a cell phone video recording — which means that someone, somewhere should be expecting a visit from Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane pretty soon.

In the meantime, the rest of us can enjoy an advanced look at the show's highly-anticipated return, scheduled for Apr. 12. The nearly two-minute trailer, scored to a haunting version of David Bowie’s "Heroes," boasts a level of plus-sized spectacle that's a perfect fit for an IMAX screen: enormous battle sequences, spectacular scenery and, best of all, the Mother of Dragons in a series of larger-than-life close-ups. Other things to look out for: Littlefinger encouraging Sansa to "avenge" an unspecified wronged party (most likely her nearly-extinguished family line), a bearded, disheveled Tyrion tumbling out of his shipping crate, and Arya slowly picking up her trusty sword, Needle. Sure you can watch this at home, but admit it...it would look even more awesome on IMAX.

Game of Thrones returns Sunday, April 12 on HBO.
