  • Capturing the image from your phone screen – whether it’s a map or a text message – is pretty easy on both Android and iPhone. Watch the video above to see how it’s done.

    On the iPhone

Press the Home key at the same time as the Lock or Power button. You’ll see a flash effect and hear the shutter sound. Done. To access the captured image, open up your camera or photo app, and you’ll see the screenshot in your camera roll.

    On Newer Androids

On newer models running Android 4.0 or later, hit the Power button and the Volume Down button for a few seconds. You’ll be able to find the captured image in your camera roll, just as if you had taken a regular picture.

    On Older Androids

Taking screenshots on older Androids requires an app. Screenshot Ultimate is free, or you can pay about $5 for one with a few added bells and whistles like No Root Screenshot It.

  • Remember Black Friday? You know, the day after Thanksgiving with its huge, door-busting deals? Well, last year, major retailers tried to get a jump on their competition by opening on Thanksgiving. And this year, the rush for your holiday shopping dollars is starting even earlier – online Black Friday sales will start just after Halloween. So where and when can you find the best deals?

Why “Black Friday” is Earlier Than Ever

Getting a jump on the competition
Online retailers start the discounts early so they can get your hard-earned dollars before the big in-store shopping starts.

Retailers need info about what will be hot
The earlier holiday sales start rolling, the earlier retailers know what’s popular. Brick-and-mortar stores in particular have dynamic inventory software that tells them how much of an item to stock based on early sales, so they want that data before the heavy holiday shopping starts.

    The quest for younger shoppers
By opening stores on Thanksgiving, many stores can get a

  • Apple just went ballistic with a slew of new product announcements: the iPad Air, iPad Mini Retina Display, Macbook Pro 13 and 15-inch models, and the Mac Pro desktop.  Nothing revolutionary here, but solid improvements.

    The questions are:

Is the retina display on the iPad mini worth an extra $100?
Will there be enough inventory for the holiday buying season?
Will the improvements to the Macbook get Windows 8 users to switch?
Is anyone outside of Hollywood going to buy a $3000 desktop computer?

    iPad Air: starts at $499

The biggest surprise of the day was the new name for the iPad, the iPad Air. It is 20% thinner than the previous model. Its weight is reduced from 1.4 lbs to 1 lb. It has a 64-bit A7 chip, which Apple says is 8 times faster than the previous model. The upgrade to a 64-bit processor may seem like a geeky throwaway, but it future-proofs your purchase. As more apps take advantage of this faster chip architecture, the iPad you buy today will still seem fast for many years to

Keshi says Nigeria offered him 'slave contract'

Coach Stephen Keshi has said a new deal offered to him by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)amounts to a "slave contract". A debate has raged whether 52-year-old Keshi should be given a new contract after he failed to qualify the Super Eagles for the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. His initial contract of three years ran out after last year's World Cup in Brazil, where Nigeria reached the last 16 knockout stages. After a long wait, Keshi, who triumphed with Nigeria at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, said he had received his new contract from the NFF but had been far from impressed with what was on offer.

  • Rugby-Italy stun Scotland with last-gasp victory

A last-minute penalty try earned Italy a 22-19 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday and only their second away win in the Six Nations. In a match billed as the battle to avoid the wooden spoon, Italy trailed throughout largely due to the trusty boot of Scotland skipper Greig Laidlaw, but snatched the win at the death after camping on the Scotland line. With Italy's pack bulldozing over the line the match referee had no choice but to award a penalty try, which was converted by Tommaso Allan to spark Italian celebrations as they secured their first points of the 2015 tournament. They previously won in Scotland in 2007.
