Media Matters has a lot to say about Fox News every day. And soon, the liberal watchdog can bring its gripes with the cable network straight to the source.

David Brock, the chief executive of Media Matters, won an online charity auction today that gives him — and five guests — a "friendly lunch" with Rupert Murdoch, chairman of Fox parent News Corp.

"I look forward to this opportunity to have a friendly lunch with Rupert Murdoch, along with five of my invited guests," Brock said in a statement. "I will soon contact Mr. Murdoch's office to determine a mutually convenient time and place in New York."

Media Matters just won the auction Thursday afternoon; the two sides haven't yet hashed out a time and place.

Brock bid $86,000 for the charity lunch, which was put up for auction by a group called Charity Buzz, with the proceeds benefiting the Global Poverty Project.

It's likely that Brock will have something to say about Fox News, or other Murdoch outlets like the New York Post and Wall Street Journal. But Brock will also get a chance to talk business with the media mogul. A News Corp. spokesman declined to comment on the midday meeting of the minds.

Charity Buzz has billed the lunch as a "once in a lifetime chance to sit with self-made billionaire Rupert Murdoch, face to face over a friendly lunch and get his feedback first hand on your proposed business ideas."
