Obama tells ’60 Minutes’ he has failed at ‘persuading people’

President Obama still doesn't think that voters were rejecting him in Tuesday's midterm elections. Instead, he suggested the Democrats' crushing Election Day losses were attributable mainly to his failure to communicate.

In an interview with "60 Minutes" set to air Sunday night on CBS, Obama says it's a "fair argument" when he is asked about supporters who believe he's lost his "mojo" in communicating and connecting with average Americans.

"Over the course of two years, we were so busy and so focused on getting a bunch of stuff done that we stopped paying attention to the fact that leadership isn't just legislation. That it's a matter of persuading people," Obama told Steve Kroft of CBS. "And giving them confidence. And bringing them together. And setting a tone. And making an argument that people can understand. And I think that we haven't always been successful at that, and I take personal responsibility for that. And it's something that I've got to examine carefully as I go forward."
