Reid vs. Crist: Dem leader says he’s not courting Fla. Gov

Looks like someone isn’t telling the truth.

As we reported earlier, Charlie Crist told the Wall Street Journal that he’d talked to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently about caucusing with the Democrats. When we contacted Reid’s office, spokesman Jim Manley gave us a “no comment” on the story.

But Reid now tells Politico that he hasn’t talked to Crist recently. “You must be reading somebody’s mail other than mine,” Reid told Politico’s Manu Raju. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Reid said he placed “one call” to Crist “several months ago” to talk about issues relating to Florida. Asked if he’d talked to Crist about joining the Democratic caucus, Reid replied, “Of course not.” The Senate Majority Leader reiterated he was supporting Democrat Kendrick Meek in the race.

A spokesman for Crist had no immediate comment.
