Watch President Obama’s Iraq speech live

President Obama will speak to the nation from the Oval Office at 8 p.m. ET to mark the delivery of a key campaign promise he made in 2008: the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq. The speech, expected to last about 15 or 20 minutes, won't be a "victory lap," Obama said today, but it will mark the changing U.S. role in the Iraq.

The biggest mystery is whether Obama will acknowledge the 2007 troop surge in Iraq, which is credited for salvaging the war, and whether he will mention George W. Bush, with whom he reportedly spoke earlier today. But the speech won't just center on Iraq. White House officials say the president will also address the ongoing war in Afghanistan, which he described today as a "tough slog."
