Chris Heisey makes diving catch after replacing contact lens

There was more to the outstanding catch Cincinnati Reds right fielder Chris Heisey made during the fourth inning of Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins than meets the eye … literally.

Time was mysteriously called by the umpiring crew after Reds starter Johnny Cueto had a 2-2 count on Casey McGehee. Cueto paced around the pitcher's mound, wondering what the deal was. It turns out Heisey lost a contact lens. He raced into the away clubhouse at Marlins Park, quickly replaced the lens and returned to the field. Eight pitches later, after Marcell Ozuna had hit a two-out double, it appeared Miami shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria would drive Ozuna in with a shot to the right-center gap. But Heisey had other ideas.

The Reds went on to win 3-1 following a controversial replay ruling.

Vino in China

Moving to NBA news, Kobe Bryant looks fully recovered from the knee injury that forced him to miss the majority of the 2013-14 season. The Los Angeles Lakers star showed off his skills during a Nike RISE event in Shanghai while taking on a fan in a game of 1-on-1.

Respect the kicker

Finally in college football, Georgia Tech sophomore kicker Harrison Butker made his fifth consecutive field goal of 50 yards or more (in windy conditions, mind you) to save his teammates from additional conditioning.
