Bloomberg report uncovers key Galaxy S6 details – and possible release timing

More bad news for HTC: it looks like Samsung’s next-generation flagship phone is going to rain on the HTC One M9’s parade. HTC is set to debut its most important Android smartphone of the year during a press conference on March 1st. A recent leak likely exposed the actual HTC One M9 for the first time and while it’s still a beautiful handset, it appears as though HTC is going to run into the same major problems it ran into last year when it comes to sales.

Now, it looks like an even bigger problem will arise for the HTC One M9: Samsung’s Galaxy S6.

A new report from Bloomberg on Wednesday covering the next-generation Galaxy S phone echos news that we have already heard a few times out of the East. In order to ensure a timely release, Samsung will apparently drop Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon processor from the Galaxy S6.

While the company typically releases two versions of its flagship phones, one with a Snapdragon CPU and a second with its own Exynos processor, this time it will only use Exynos chips to power the Galaxy S6. Earlier reports pointed to manufacturing issues with the new Snapdragon processors as the reason for the shift.

Beyond that, Bloomberg also quoted HI Investment & Securities analyst Song Myung Sup, who suggested that the new Galaxy S6 will launch as soon as March.

“Samsung may release the next Galaxy S as early as March, and it can’t dare to take the risk to use any of the chips in question for its most important model,” the analyst said.

There is no official word yet from Samsung on when it might unveil the Galaxy S6.
