It's hard to believe, but in 12 years as New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg had never appeared on "Saturday Night Live" until Saturday.

The outgoing mayor made his first appearance on the late-night comedy show during "Weekend Update" with host Jimmy Fallon, telling viewers about his post-mayoral plans.

"I'll be fulfilling a lifelong dream of enjoying a small soda on a nonsmoking beach," Bloomberg said.

"You don't have another job lined up, Mr. Mayor?" Jimmy Fallon asked.

"Well, I applied to teach Spanish at a few universities, but I'm told my accent isn't 'bueno,'" Bloomberg replied.

Earlier this month, Bloomberg appeared on Fallon's late-night show, helping the host write thank-you notes.

"Thank you, Jimmy Fallon, for bringing 'The Tonight Show' back to New York," Bloomberg said. "The city that never sleeps, unless it's watching your monologue."

Hizzoner's last day at City Hall is Dec. 31 before handing the keys to Democratic Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio, who won in a landslide victory over Republican Joe Lhota in November.
