Bloor lighting, Salsa on St. Clair, Taste of Lawrence celebrations close roads

A weekend of festivals and special events will cause several road closures in various parts of the city this weekend.

Line 3 closed

There is no subway service on Line 3 between Kennedy and McCowan stations, due to scheduled maintenance, on Saturday and Sunway. Shuttle busses are running.

Bloor Viaduct lighting

Beginning Friday night, Bloor Street East will close from Parliament Street to Broadview Avenue to prepare for Saturday night's lighting of the Bloor Viaduct's "Luminous Veil."

The Pan Am Games torch relay will also be in the area on Saturday for the celebrations, so expect several smaller closures because of that.

Castle Frank Road from the Don Valley Parkway and the Bayview extension ramps in both directions will be closed from Saturday, July 4, at 4 p.m. to Sunday, July 5, at 5 a.m. Bloor is set to reopen at 5 a.m. on Sunday.

Taste of Lawrence

Taste of Lawrence, Scarborough's massive three-day food festival, will close Lawrence Avenue East from Birchmount to Warden all weekend.

Several bands will take to the main stage at Lawrence and Warden, while more than 130 food vendors will cater to the thousands of visitors.

Salsa on St. Clair

And on St. Clair Avenue West, cars will be replaced with hundreds of dancers during the Salsa on St. Clair event.

The two-day free festival will close St. Clair from Winona Drive to Christie Street.

Pan Am Torch relay (Saturday)

Rolling lane closures will be in effect as the torch-bearer moves through city streets this weekend. The closures will begin in the area of St. James Town Library, 495 Sherbourne Ave, at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday and will affect the following route:

- Southbound on Bleeker Street, from the St. James Town Library to Wellesley Street East.

- Westbound on Wellesley Street East, to Jarvis Street.

- Northbound on Jarvis Street, continuing onto Ted Rogers Way to Bloor Street East.

- Eastbound on Bloor Street East, to the celebration site at the Prince Edward Viaduct.

Pan Am Torch relay (Sunday)

On Sunday, Torch Relay will continue through Toronto, Rolling lane closures will be in effect along the torch route and will affect the following streets:

- Northbound on Fenwick Avenue, to Danforth Avenue

- Eastbound on Danforth Avenue, to Variety Village at 3701 Danforth Avenue

- Northbound on Kennedy Road, from Lawrence Avenue East to McNicoll Avenue

- Westbound on McNicoll Avenue, to 2000 McNicoll Avenue

- Eastbound on McNicoll Avenue, to Silver Star Boulevard

- Southbound on Brimley Avenue, to the Finch Hydro corridor

- Sheppard Avenue East, from Markham Road to 5183 Sheppard Avenue East

- Eastbound on Ellesmere Road, from Neilson Road to Military Trail

- Northbound on Military Trail, to the PanAm Aquatics Centre (PAC)

- Southbound on Military Trail to Old Kingston Road

- Westbound on Old Kingston Road to the Tennis Centre (UTS)

- Westbound on Old Kingston Road from the UTS entrance to the Kingston Road access

- Southbound on Kingston Road, to Morningside Avenue

- Westbound on Eglinton Avenue East, from Kingston Road to Midland Avenue

- Westbound on Queen Street East, from Fallingbrook Road to Woodbine Avenue

- Southbound on Woodbine Avenue, from Queen Street East onto Lake Shore Boulevard East

- Westbound on Lake Shore Boulevard East, to Coxwell Avenue

- The city has revamped its website with a new road restrictions map that will provide real-time information on roadwork and other activities that are taking place on city streets so you can get around the city easily.

"Providing real-time information to residents is essential to helping tackle congestion on our roadways," Mayor John Tory said in a statement. "The revamped road closures and restrictions website, as well as the installation of more traffic cameras, is an example of how the city is modernizing the way it communicates so residents can plan their commute more effectively and efficiently."
