Blue Jays opt in on Janssen

The Toronto Blue Jays picked up the contract options for Casey Janssen, Adam Lind and Mark DeRosa but declined the option on Munenori Kawasaki, SportsNet.ca reported Thursday.

Janssen's option was for $4 million. The Jays closer posted a 4-1 record, 34 saves and a 2.55 ERA in 52 2/3 innings this season. In the past two seasons, the 32-year-old has 56 saves in 61 chances.

Lind, a first baseman and outfielder, had a $7 million option and DeRosa's was $750,000. Kawasaki, who had a $1 million option, still could return to the team on a minor league deal.

The 30-year-old Lind batted .288 with 23 home runs and 67 RBIs in 143 games this season.

DeRosa, 38, played in 88 games and batted .235 with seven homers and 36 RBIs. He also was a steading influence in the clubhouse as a utilityman.
