    Blue Ocean Bob Picture Books Bring Message of Hope to Children of Tornado Ravaged Joplin, MO

    Author Brooks Olbrys Joins Operation Disaster Relief to Aid Joplin, MO

    When recent tornadoes destroyed 262 classrooms leaving almost 13,000 students without supplies or books in Joplin, Missouri, Brooks Olbrys stepped forward to help. As the author of the new children’s book THE ADVENTURES OF BLUE OCEAN BOB: Blue Ocean Bob Discovers His Purpose (August 2011) and CEO of Children’s Success Unlimited, Olbrys is donating more than 200 books and memory card games to help victims of the disaster.

    “I was contacted by Cynthia Brian, host of the popular radio program, Starstyle®-Be the Star You Are!® to donate resources to help Operation Disaster Relief for Joplin, Missouri,” says Olbrys. “I was happy to be able to help the children and teachers of Joplin in a small way with Blue Ocean Bob books, memory cards and goal cards. Blue Ocean Bob can help young people discover what they’d love to do in life and focus them on their bright futures.”

    When the Joplin Access Family Clinic asked for books for their patients, Brooks again offered to send books and memory cards. “Blue Ocean Bob is one of those books that adults and children will enjoy together. It is so beautifully written and illustrated that it is sure to be a classic. Be the Star You Are!® is so grateful to Brooks. We became friends when he was a guest on our radio show back in 2010. He will be a guest again on August 11 and we can’t wait to share his newest stories,” states Cynthia Brian.

    Olbrys was one of the first authors to jump on board to ship his colorful and inspirational book, relayed in rhyming verse, for ages pre-school to Grade 3. Blue Ocean Bob Discovers His Purpose is the first in a series of children’s books that follows the adventures of Blue Ocean Bob as he realizes his passion and discovers his purpose—to protect the sea and all life within it.

    Olbrys became intrigued by the philosophies of success in high school, but his interest in the subject was truly ignited when he began to study the work of Bob Proctor, a best-selling author and motivational speaker who helps individuals understand their hidden abilities to do more, be more and have more in every area of life. After the birth of his son, Brooks became inspired to make these principles more accessible to children. Brooks holds a BA and MA from Stanford University, an MALD from the Fletcher School at Tufts and a JD from UC Berkeley. This is his first picture book for children.
