Expanded product line includes mezzanines, stairways, cantilever rack and conveyor crossovers
Fort Worth, Texas (PRWEB) September 12, 2011
One year later, an expanded BLS product line -- which includes mezzanine structures, stairways, free standing conveyor support and crossover structures, caged and ships ladders, and cantilever rack, http://www.bluffmanufacturing.com/mezzanines.htm -- has been fully integrated into Bluff Manufacturing. During the summer of 2010, intensive training and development took place throughout the company, including sales, engineering and production. Extensive educational sessions were held with sales and marketing personnel in order to transfer and assimilate product knowledge and to align the product line with existing products for a seamless expansion. In addition, one of the company's long term IS reps, Cindy Holybee, was appointed as a dedicated BLS product line account representative to work with its channel partners to create design solutions and manage orders.
According to Andrea Curreri, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Bluff Manufacturing, many operational changes were made to accommodate production of the BLS product line.
"In order to build the BLS products in our Ft. Worth plant, the engineering department reworked the layout of the production floor. Accommodations were made for new specialized production and manufacturing equipment," explains Curreri. "Additionally, supplemental design software was acquired which allowed the engineers to quickly begin mezzanine design development. Because of expanded production requirements, plant operations were expanded to two shifts."
In 2011, Bluff’s BLS product line took on a life of its own with the production and installation of mezzanines; stairways, ladders, landings and conveyor crossovers; as well as cantilever racks. One of the first installations took place in an existing parts distribution center of a national telecommunications company, requiring integration of catwalks and conveyor crossovers into an actively functioning conveyor system.
"Because of Bluff’s ability to provide operational solutions to material handling challenges, we were soon busy retrofitting, expanding and modifying many existing operations while integrating BLS product line applications," Curreri adds.
With vigorous research and development, the marketing and sales department campaigned for product education, needs assessment and safety education in the local marketplace. These efforts soon expanded to a national level and successfully resulted in identification of unique opportunities in a wide variety of expanded markets, including the recycling industry. Some of the company's recent applications in this venue have included work platforms and caged ladders for baler systems, as well as the incorporation of a mezzanine for enhanced productivity in the sort function of a regional recycling company.
“We made the decision to acquire B&L Structures because it adheres to our philosophy of innovative design, quality craftsmanship and providing value to the customer,” states Curreri. "With another success under our belt, we are already looking for the next opportunity."
