Body found in Douglass Park Lagoon on West Side

Chicago police are conducting a death investigation after a body was found in the Douglass Park Lagoon on Saturday afternoon.

About 5:15 p.m., a body was reported in the water in the 1400 block of South Sacramento Drive, police said.

Emergency crews, including the Chicago police marine unit, responded and pulled the remains from the water.

The unidentified person was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which marked the location of the death as 1400 South Farrar Drive.

An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
