Woman’s body found in Linkhorn Bay near yacht club in Virginia Beach

A woman’s body was recovered from Linkhorn Bay next to the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

The department’s detective bureau is currently investigating.

John Bianco, division chief for Virginia Beach Rescue, confirmed that the city’s rescue and fire personnel responded to a call at 8:47 a.m. for a body in the water in the 1000 block of Cardinal Road and “found the victim was obviously deceased.”

More information will be available later, according to an email from the police chief’s staff.

The yacht club manager did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Virginian-Pilot. The private facility, located off Laskin Road not far from the Oceanfront, has 100 boat slips on floating docks.

Several employees of the club turned a reporter away from the entrance as a police forensics vehicle entered the property around 10 a.m.
