Boehner responds to Dems’ GOP portrayal as party of the wealthy [VIDEO]

When asked about the messaging war between Republicans and Democrats over raising taxes on the wealthy, House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio said Republicans favor lowering the tax burden on small businesses in an effort to “try to get this government off the backs of employers so that they can begin to hire people.”

    Watch:

Asked on Friday at the Capitol about Democrats’ plan to paint Republicans as the defenders of wealthy Americans who oppose middle-class tax cuts, Boehner said, “Well, listen, I’ve got 11 brothers and sisters on every rung of the economic ladder, all right? My dad owned a bar. I know what’s going on out in America.

“And the fact is that Republicans are trying to do everything we can to allow American families and small businesses to keep more of what they earn, to try to get this government off the backs of employers so that they can begin to hire people. And the other side can go out — come out with all the rhetoric they want to come out with, but the facts are the facts.”

Just a question to test for hypocrisy here ....
Would Republicans go for a tax cut on wages, balanced with an exactly balanced tax increase of the 1%er's capital gains? (now at 12%) This is Trickle Up economics: wage earners would immediately use the money on food and durable goods, creating an immediate demand, more jobs, growing businesses which then return profits to offset the 1%er's tax. If Trickle Down works, Trickle Up does too and with less pain all around.

Better phrased as, "Would Politicians go for a tax cut on wages,...."
I don't see either side on the morally high ground....both are pushing their failed agendas.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Lets run a fact check here regarding supply and demand.
      1) Most products are bought by the lower middle classes.
      2) Most businesses are owned by the upper class.
      3) If a product is in buying demand, an employer will hire more employees in order to sell more products and make more money.
      4) If a product is not in buying demand, an employer will not hire more employees because without buying demand he will lose money on additional salaries.

So, if I am rich and I get a tax cut, why would I hire more employees knowing that the lower middle classes, who did not get a tax cut, do not have money to buy my products. Especially when my competitors are saving money by firing people in a low demand (recession) market? So like the smart business owner I am, I just put it in the bank and wait out the recession. (Which is exactly what has been happening since the recession began.)

Now on the flip side, if I as a rich person do not get a tax cut, no big deal because I am already rich. And if the lower middle class does gets a tax cut, they now have additional spending money to buy my products. I recognize that buying demand is increasing and I would be a fool not to hire more employees to keep up with demand and make a profit.

Bottom line: Do Republicans understand the concept of supply and demand at all?

The industrialist and the labor leader were walking through a factory. The industrialist proudly showed off the new robots working away making cars.

The industrialist laughed, "Well, I guess the big question is how do you get all these robots to pay union dues!"

The labor leader said, " No. I don't think so. The big question is how do you get all these robots to buy your cars!"

        Think about it,

The Republicans are justifying the sacrifice of middle class payroll tax relief because the budget has no room for such relief, but maintain millionaire tax giveaways. Bohner is also attacking the Democrats for saying the sky is blue. Again, the millionaire tax giveaways have been in effect for ten years. Where are the jobs that these giveaways are producing?

small business are not the rich and the rich will continue to put money or invest in something that will make them more even if the are taxed more . If there is an oppurtunity to make a profit the rich will exploit it even if they are taxed more---oppurtunities will still get backing .

all the tax cuts, etc, that the wealthy have received have created millions of jobs - in Asia, South America, India,... everywhere but here.

You mean that when businesses get tax breaks, meaning they pay less taxes, that's when they leave the country? Did you get your education by watching the Bill Maher show?

Norquist has his puppet "Boehner" respond to dems. Fact, Boehner has made a pledge to Norquist. He doesn't represent the people of America. He can't even make a comment without Norqwuist's blessing. He is a total joke.

So, Boehner, in his $3,000 suit, his Bermuda suntan and his $200 manicure is telling us the GOP is working for the middle class and poor? How many of you out there are really buying into this?

Sadly a lot of people buy into it. Most of the GoP's constituency is made up of people that vote against their own interests.

Most Americans are not rich nor do they own a small business. Most small business men or women are millionares. When are the republicans going to get that thru their thick skulls? The average American's wages are plunging in a downward spiral. They are also losing benefits including healthcare. A lot of them now have 2 part time jobs, instead of a full time job with benefits. You fortunate people that have good jobs think that the less fortunate are lazy. You are so wrong that it makes me sick. I'm above average income and I give to the poor. Have a heart you people. America is a land of the haves and have nots. Try to brainwash yourselves into thinking otherwise but your just lying to yourselves. Thats just facts!

The Bush tax cuts have been law for eight years and yet we lost 8 million jobs and increase our national debt by 3+ trillion dollars. Ray Charles can see this policy doesn't work. Why can't Congress?

A former republican president call this economic strategy Voodoo Economics. Nothing has changed. "It's the seem old song, with a different beat since he came along." To quote a four tops song!

Way to skirt the question, Boehner. You know what's going on; the rich have set themselves up as our new nobility and democracy is falling by the wayside. Thanks for ruining everything our founding fathers fought and died for, Republicans.

Tea Party Republicans (remember them?) are so distraught about the positive job numbers, they are attempting to leap to their deaths from the roofs of their doublewides.

Translation:And the fact is that republicans are trying to do whatever big business will let us do to allow rich American families and big business keep what they earn and put more on the backs of working families. Thats what he ment to say.

So the GOP wants to tax the poor and Zero out Capital gains tax. The poor and middle class are already the ones burdened with SS tax for their entire income. and Capital Gains is the only income those on wall street earn. The wealthy and businesses are sitting on tons of cash. They do not deserve any more. You want to spurn growth lets try trickle up. More money for the Middle class to spend that will generate demand and then maybe the wealthy will invest the cash they are sitting on to fill the demand.
