    Boeing to finalize 737 Max wind tunnel test

    NEW YORK (AP) — Boeing will start a key phase of testing next week for the new version of its best-selling model, the 737.

    The so-called "Max" will enter the final lap of wind tunnel testing to determine how the airplane performs at a range of air speeds. The Chicago manufacturer said late Sunday that it will be testing all different facets of aircraft's new engine and how it affects aerodynamics.

    Testing will begin in Farnborough, England, where engineers will simulate the low speeds experienced during takeoff and landing. High-speed testing will be performed at a wind tunnel facility in Seattle. Wind speed testing is a major determining factor in the final design of the plane.

    Boeing expects testing to be complete in mid-2012. The company has received 1,000 orders for the plane from 15 customers. It expects the plane will burn 10 percent to 12 percent less fuel over the most fuel efficient planes in the sky today.

    Boeing Co. announced plans in August to move ahead with its redesigned 737 with a new engine, matching a competing Airbus plane. Boeing makes more 737s than any other model. The original 737 first flew in 1967.

    The first Boeing 737 Max is expected to be delivered in 2017.

        Chris-what exact percentage of a Boeing palne is Made in USA? Ever check? Boeing made the decision long ago that they did not want to manufacture airplanes, they want to design and assemble airplanes, most of their manufacturing went overseas a long time ago.

        American cars made in Mexico and Canada, foreign cars made in the USA?! All the major car companies have mixed ownership. Therefore, I no longer care what the brand name is, as long as its a good car and I like how it looks.
        The new Hyundai's look great. The Elantra (once a junk car) smokes the new Civic which is now substandard to the previous Civic.
