Boko Haram Abducts the Wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister
In what's being described as "a savage attack," the wife of Cameroon Vice Prime Minister Ahmadou Ali was kidnapped along with the mayor of Kolofata in a series of attacks on Sunday by Boko Haram.
I can confirm that the home of Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali in Kolofata came under a savage attack from Boko Haram militants," Issa Tchiroma told Reuters by telephone.
The attack also killed three people. Elsewhere in the country, the group attacked a church, killing five people in wounding eight.
As we noted earlier this month, Boko Haram has been stepping up its attacks in recent months, killing over 2000 people alone in violence this year. It remains best known internationally, not for its five-year insurgency, but for its kidnapping of over 200 Nigerian schoolgirls.
Since Boko Haram seized the girls of Chibok, Nigeria has racked up the world’s highest terrorism fatality rate. http://t.co/U4gMS02hfJ
