    New Book Offers Readers a Helping Hand into the World of Reiki

    “Reiki: An Ancient Healing Art Revisited” (published by iUniverse) by Reiki master and practitioner Marguerite Antonio is a self-help book dealing with the history and precepts of Reiki. It presents Antonio’s assessment of what Reiki is – and what it is not.

    To serious students of natural healing arts, as well as curious and adventurous readers, Antonio offers an insight into and ways to use Reiki as a healing tool for self and for others. She discusses the chakras – the energy centers of the body – and her interpretation of what they are and how they affect and are affected by a Reiki treatment on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels of being. She goes on to offer step-by-step instructions on how to perform a Reiki treatment on oneself or others.

    Reiki, as Antonio clarifies, involves the use of spirit-guided life force energy, so, with “Reiki: An Ancient Healing Art Revisited” she has provided information on how to mediate the process. She has included several simple and effective meditations and a set of easy-to-follow instructions which she suggests will serve as a means of self-evaluation and awareness. Her book culminates with information with which the student may attain mastership in the healing art of Reiki.

    Antonio explains that, in order to reap the highest benefits of Reiki, the student needs to learn the meaning of and uses for certain ancient symbols or sacred mantras. She says, “As these symbols are deemed sacred by the original Reiki masters, I have not included them in this book.” So, although her book is not exhaustive in providing everything about Reiki, Antonio provides a number of guides, detailed information, and an interesting introduction into this ancient healing practice.

    Marguerite Antonio worked many years as a medical technologist before exploring alternative therapies. She is a registered reflexologist and has been a Reiki master teacher and Reiki practitioner for more than 10 years. She lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her husband.
