    New Book Unfolds a Fascinating Visual Journey

    Author Sherrie White’s “What Am I?” is a delightful collection of macro photography and riddles

    Reading stories to children is beneficial in more ways than one. Storytelling improves a child’s communication skills, vocabulary and creativity. There are many books available, but the best are often those that teach valuable lessons while stimulating the child’s imagination. Combining her passion for photography with her love for her grandchildren, author Sherrie White pens What Am I? (published by iUniverse), a picture book that will delight children and adults alike.

    The book is published under White’s pen name, Bama, the name her grandchildren fondly call her. It features a collection of her macro photography with an accompanying riddle, challenging readers to guess what the image is. A poetic answer to each riddle as well as a normal shot of the subject is found on the following page. The reading experience that unfolds makes it opportune for kids and their parents to bond while solving the riddle.

    In writing What Am I?, Bama encourages others to take time to smell the roses. “We don’t take enough time today to stop and look closely at things around us,” she says. “We’re too busy or too tired. This book should be a lesson to children and adults to slow down and look closely at things. Whether it’s a flower or a presidential candidate – look closely, who knows what you might find.”

    Vibrant and imaginative, What Am I? is a visual and literary treat that reminds readers there is much beauty waiting to be discovered in the world.
