BoulderLight And Making Film Partner On New Horror Film Label
BoulderLight Pictures and Hong Kong-based production company Making Film Limited have announced a joint venture that will produce three new films, which Making Film will fully finance. The deal will create a new film label, “Making Horror,” that will focus on horror and thriller films with budgets in the seven figure range. Making film will serve as both investor and collaborator on these films, with director Pang Ho-Cheung, who cofounded Making Film, serving as executive producer.
The first project on the slate will be the thriller Dismissed, written by Brian McAuley and directed by Benjamin Arfmann in his feature film debut. Set to begin shooting in September in Los Angeles, it’s produced by J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, along with Sev Ohanian. Worldwide sales will be split between BoulderLight and Hong Kong’s Bravos Pictures Limited.
Recent BoulderLight productions include Dementia, recently acquired by IFC, Contracted: Phase II, also getting theatrical through IFC later this year, and the werewolf film Uncaged, released through Image Entertainment.
Benjamin Arfmann previously directed the South by Southwest short film Random Stop. Pang Ho-Cheung’s latest film is the 2014 romantic comedy Women Who Flirt, starring Zhou Xun.
