Boxes review

A collectables organizer with a fluid, elegant interface and intelligent reminders, Boxes lets you share and even sell items thanks to its Facebook, Twitter, and eBay integration.

Pros

Deep social integration: Much like Instagram and other niche social networks, Boxes allows you to put your items in public folders that can be seen and followed by anyone. And with the built-in Twitter and Facebook support, you can have your friends view your items, too.

Selling on eBay: In addition to following other people, Boxes also lets you put a price on your items and list them for sale. You can even let the app create eBay listings for you.

Warranty and barcode support: Along with pictures and a description, the app has the option to include other information about your items like price, warranty, barcodes, manuals, etc. It will even notify you when the item's warranty is about to expire.

Cons

Lack of gestures: You may not find some gestures you have come to expect such as a back gesture or a swipe-to-delete.

No iPad support: As of yet, this is an iPhone-only app.

No private way to search your stuff: While testing we could not find a way to search our own boxes. The only workaround we came up with was placing all of your items in public boxes and then doing a location-restrictive search. However, while this method does work, you're sacrificing all your privacy for convenience.

Bottom Line

If you like to collect things or catalog possessions, Boxes is a great application. While the organization itself is quite basic and doesn't support nested boxes and local search, other features like the buttery-smooth UI, social and eBay integration, and the ability to attach warranties, receipts, and barcodes to your stuff make this free app a great way to go.
