These breathtaking aerial photos show New York at night like you’ve never seen it before

New York is likely one of the most photographed cities in the world in recent history, but you’ve never seen it quite like this. Photographer Vincent Laforet recently took to the skies above Manhattan in an open-door helicopter to shoot some of the most incredible photos we have ever seen of the city that never sleeps.

Laforet did an amazing job of capturing the city lights in rich color, and the result is nothing short of spectacular. He also described the shoot in a recent post on his blog.

“This was an incredible adventure – and to be honest self-imposed,” Laforet wrote in the post (via Esquire). “I’d always wanted to see NY from all the way up there. Well we all catch a glimpse of this view when we land at JFK or LGA – but you can never make clean photos from an airplane’s window seat… at least not looking down. And when you’re in a helicopter: the vibrations make it very hard to photograph at night.”

A few of the amazing photos he captured follow below, and the rest can be seen by following the link to Laforet’s blog down in the source section.
