It’s tough to find “the perfect” wedding dress. And despite the huge array of designs available, some brides-to-be will just never find the style they’ve always dreamed of walking down the aisle in.

So one creative bride decided to ditch the hunt and design – and make – her own. It was no easy feat; the whole process took Abbey Ramirez-Bodley, from Oklahoma, eight months as she painstakingly crocheted the entire dress.

“I wanted to make my own dress because I saw another woman had done it and it was by far the most beautiful dress I’d seen,” the 23-year-old bride told Buzzfeed.

But while it may’ve taken up a good deal of time, it didn’t cost nearly as much as other wedding dresses. In fact, it was a complete steal at just £113. The newlywed spent around £46 on the wool and the remainder went on the green dress she wore underneath.

The end result, we think you’ll agree, is gorgeous and makes us want to learn the art of crocheting – a skill that Ramirez-Bodley has been perfecting since she was a child. Her aunt, who gave her a hand with her wedding gown, was the one who taught her.

“I wanted to make my own dress because I saw another woman had done it and it was by far the most beautiful dress I’d seen,” the new bride told Buzzfeed.

And naturally, her partner Jake loved it. “My husband was impressed that we were able to do it and it came out great.”

All of Ramirez-Bodley’s family and friends were blown away by her skill, too, and have since been asking her for a hand with creating their own dresses.

“I’ve had many requests for help and advice on starting [other women’s] own projects and that’s really cool,” she said.
