    Brightcove Files $50 Million IPO

    brightcove logoOnline video infrastructure provider Brightcove this morning filed to raised $50 million in an initial public offering. The company did not specify how many shares it intends to sell in the deal.

    Underwriters will include Morgan Stanley, Stifel Nicolas, RBC Capital, Pacific Crest and Raymond James.

    Based in Cambridge, Mass., the company says that as of June 30 it had 3,295 customers including the New York Times, Oracle, Showtime, Philips Electronics, Macy's, Bank of America, the U.S. Army and Honda.

    In the 2011 first half, the company posted revenue of $26.35 million, up from $20.31 million in the comparable period a year earlier. Brightcove lost $9.5 million in the same span, compared with a loss of $8.1 million a year earlier. For all of 2010, Brightcove had revenue of $43.7 million and a loss of $17.4 million.

    The largest current holders in the company include General Catalyst Partners, with 26.6%, and Accel Partners with 24.5%.
