British man gets 6 years for receiving drugs from grandmother sentenced to death in Indonesia

BALI, Indonesia - A British man was sentenced to six years in prison for allegedly receiving cocaine in Indonesia from a British grandmother who was sentenced to death last week.

Julian Anthony Ponder was convicted for his role as an accomplice to 56-year-old Lindsay June Sandiford. She was sentenced Jan. 22 to death by firing squad for smuggling cocaine worth $2.5 million in her suitcase onto the resort island of Bali.

Presiding Judge Gunawan Tri Budiono said Ponder was found guilty of possessing narcotics and also fined 1 billion rupiah (US$102,500).
