Broncos hire Knapp as QBs coach

The Broncos announced Monday that they have placed DE Jason Hunter on injured reserve.

Hunter injured his triceps in a training-camp practice on Aug. 14. The injury required surgery and the recovery time was estimated at four months.

Hunter, who turns 29 Tuesday, had worked his way into the starting lineup and, according to the Broncos' website, defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio said he felt bad for the seventh-year veteran.

“Certainly, he approached things the way I like it: tough, physical, and when you’re talking about people who play in the trenches for us, that’s what we’re looking for,” Del Rio said.

In his career, Hunter has played in 88 games, with 23 starts, and totaled 128 tackles, 11 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.

With Hunter now out for the season, look for rookie Derek Wolfe to step into the starting lineup at the DLE spot opposite DRE Elvis Dumervil. Former starter Robert Ayers also is in the mix for more snaps.
