Brooklyn Park man dies in apparent drowning near Hastings

Jul. 6—A 38-year-old Brooklyn Park man died Monday in an apparent drowning in the St. Croix River near Hastings.

The Washington County sheriff's office said it responded to a reported drowning in Denmark Township about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Deputies arrived at Point Douglas Park to find the victim being brought to shore in a small boat. They tried to revive him before transporting him to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the victim's name has not yet been released.
