Building collapses in Hancock

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Emergency workers were on the scene of a building collapse Monday afternoon.

The Hancock Volunteer Fire Company (HVFC) posted about the incident on its Facebook page. In the post, the fire company said that the collapse involved a building at 55 W. Main St. in Hancock. It noted that the collapse involved the first and second floors of the buildings.

Crews respond to apartment fire in Hagerstown

Although crews initially thought people may be trapped, they found that was not the case. They said it was the second floor of the building that came down and that the collapse, itself, happened around 11:30 a.m.

HVFC said Main Street was shut down at Church and Fulton Streets shortly after the incident.
