Bullying teen brothers arrested after fight video goes viral

Police in Las Vegas arrested two teenagers suspected in a bullying incident that went viral after it was captured on video.

The two aggressors, 13-year-old and 15-year-old brothers, were charged with battery on Friday, reports KLAS-TV, the CBS affiliate in Las Vegas.

One of the teens will face an enhanced charge because he threw up a gang-related sign to the camera.

In the video, which has been viewed almost 50,000 times, the victim and the alleged attacker, both male teens, are seen having a seemingly amiable discussion. Then, the attacker walks to the victim and throws a vicious roundhouse. An unidentified student records the event for posterity.

The victim, Gregory Sams, a 13-year-old special-needs student, covers his face and tries to walk away, but the attack continues.

Laughing kids watch the melee and do not attempt to intervene. Cars pass by and do not stop.

Sam said he was walking home from Roy Martin Middle School last Wednesday when the alleged attacker — also reportedly a 13-year-old — yanked him aside, according to local NBC affiliate KSNV.

“He took me over, and I was saying what’s going on, and he keeps talking and starts talking about I’m talking bad about his family, and I said, no, I didn’t, and he starts punching me in the face,” Sam told KSNV.

The 13-year-old assailant’s 15-year-old brother then ran after Sam.

“The bigger dude started punching my ear while I’m on the ground,” Sam said, according to KSNV. “He does it until I’m on the ground and he starts doing it until he thinks I’m dead or something.”

The 15-year-old boy — the “bigger dude” — said that the altercation was a battle over honor. “I got into a fight because the kid came over to my house disrespecting my pad,” he told KLAS-TV.

He was defending his little brother, he added, claiming the video doesn’t do justice to the events leading up to the fight.

The mother of the two young maulers told the station that the boys will also be punished at home.

She posted a Facebook message apologizing for her sons’ actions and the pain they caused, according to KLAS-TV.

At first I thought the IRS scandal was leaked to distract from the Benghazi scandal. But that didn't make sense because the IRS scandal is a more obvious abuse of power than the White House lying about the murder of four Americans in Libya. Before I had resolved which scandal was distracting from which, we found out the Department of Justice was spying on The Associated Press -- not to protect national security, but to prevent the AP from scooping the White House. Then, this week, it broke that the Department of Justice was also spying on Fox News for reasons that remain unexplained. ...
