Caballero warning for Hart

Caballero targets number one spot

Willy Caballero admits he joined Manchester City knowing full well he would be playing back-up to Joe Hart, but has warned his new team-mate he intends to eventually take over as the first-choice goalkeeper. The Argentina international joined the Citizens from Malaga in a reported £4.4 million deal at the beginning of July, reuniting with City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who was previously in charge of the La Liga outfit. And, although Caballero is expected to play second fiddle behind England international Hart, he has already impressed when given the chance during pre-season, and insists he will be fighting for the number-one jersey at the Etihad Stadium this term. "I know the situation now but I will fight to play," said Caballero. "The decision will be down to the coach, the boss. "I have trained well and I will fight. "I know my position, but I want to try hard to fight for this position. "Joe is a fantastic goalkeeper, but I've come to play. I want to try and take my opportunity. "It will be difficult, yes, but City are a big club and it's a big opportunity. I want to try in every way I can to play."
