    Cain to Wall Street protesters: ‘Blame yourself’ for joblessness

    Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s blunt style was on full display in a Wall Street Journal interview published Wednesday.

    Cain told reporter Alan Murray that he isn’t a fan of New York City’s “Occupy Wall Street” protesters. “Don’t blame Wall Street,” Cain said. ”[D]on’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself!”

    The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, currently tied with Mitt Romney and Rick Perry in polls for the Republican presidential nomination, speculated the the protests were a ploy to distract voters from Democrats’ responsibility for the state of the economy.

    “I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these protests are planned an orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration,” he said.

    Pressed on whether major banks had anything to do with the current economic recession, Cain conceded that they did, but described their role as historical. “They did have something to do with the crisis that we went into in 2008, but we’re not in 2008, we’re in 2011,” Cain added.

    “It is not a person’s fault because they succeeded, it is a person’s fault if they failed,” he continued. “And so this is why I don’t understand these demonstrations and what is it that they’re looking for.”

    Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney gave a similarly dismissive answer when asked about the protests by ABC News reporter Emily Friedman on Tuesday. (RELATED: Sheila Jackson Lee lashes out at Hank Williams Jr., Herman Cain)

    “I’m just trying to get myself to occupy the White House,” Romney said, calling the protests “dangerous.”

    Several prominent Democratic members of Congress have embraced the protests, referring to the movement as the “American Autumn.”

      Bank of of America is going belly up and laying off thousands of workers guess it must be there fault the bank took risky investments.

        The people are voting with their feet my friend. You know I don't pay check and debt fees and the reason I don't is because I won't bank with them. When the banks got out of the game they were established for they lost their shirts and had to recover with fees. Vote with your feet.

        With the interest rates going down all the time by the feds, their profit margins have been slashed. Mortgages in foreclosure, loans in default, The government spending has devalued the dollar and put us in a bind. Obama's policies have done nothing but make this economy go from bad to worse.

        Every few weeks, there is a new GOP front runner. The longer they have to speak, the more that they hang themselves. Most are living in a very well insulated fantasy world. There is more to success than just good genes and hard work; many have said that it is better to be lucky than to be good.
        To blame everyone who is not employed nor rich, as a fault of their own making, just spotlights that many of the candidates of the GOP would not work to represent what is best for most Americans AND America. Americans are America! Corporations are not Americans.
        Many times in people's lives, deaths occur, illnesses, injuries, accidents...these people are delusional.

      Herman Cain is a joke. The last time the GOP tried to prove that they where inclusive they hired Micheal Steele. We all know how badly that ended up. Most people can't tell you who the chairman of the Republican National Committee is, that's because they aren't running into constant problems and making the news like Steel was. Even steel said he was beleaguerer because of his race.

      Herman Cain is just looking forward to counting the millions his is going to make after the race is over. Though he won't get the nomination he will be awarded millions in lucrative business deals from GOP financiers that are satisfied with his efforts to make the GOP seem like a more inclusive party.

      WE THE PEOPLE, not the rich, not politicians, nor corporations, WE THE PEOPLE, regardless of ethnicity, religion, origin, social status, intellect, sexual orientation, age or physical abilities are the ones who have the power to control our destiny. Politicians have forgotten that fact. They need to be reminded that they are not in charge and if they choose to ignore the will of the people then get rid of them.

They are already audited out the butt and no the general public has never actually looked at how the fed works and most don't have a clue what they even do. So I hope that clears up your confusion.         and don't forget Bush's unfunded Medicare B plan. Health care costs are sinking the country as much as anything, and that includes vet benefits. You also should add in Bush's tax cuts, which were supposed to expire in 10 yrs because they KNEW it would bankrupt the country. So any one of those things--2 front war, war on terror/Homeland Security buildup, Medicare increases, tax revenue decreases--would have caused huge deficits but the GOP chose ALL of them at the same time.

      I worked for Godfather's Pizza for 2 years in high school. Started when the location opened and was there until I moved on to a better job. Funny thing is, the place started out like gangbusters and then very quickly started cutting the hours of every employee because it turned out that the product we were selling just plain sucked, and business was lousy because of it. Instead of the 10-15 full and three-quarter time positions the store opened with, it ended up with about 6 employees who were pulling double duty working as pizza jockeys and gas station clerks to get 30 hours a week. Now, an unspecified number of years later, every single location I'm aware of is nothing more than a gas station side business with a handful of part time employees.

      Nice to know that Mr. Cain is the type of person who is willing to admit that his mistakes are his, and that the reason for his company not holding a bigger market share isn't the fault of say, Pizza Hut or Papa John's or anything.

      I lost my job because the company I worked for closed it's doors and sold it's customers off. Selling them before they even told them I might add. How is that my fault? My company was more concerned in paying out bonuses to exec's that they failed to pay suppliers, vendors and carriers. One time the company purposely failed to put money into payroll and the exec responsible for that couldn't understand why the entire company was pitching a fit outside his office because he couldn't understand why people were upset they didn't get paid. This guy actually thought it was alright not to pay his employees and that they wouldn't mind. That's the mindset they're fighting in these occupy protests. If the GOP can't see and understand that then we are in big trouble. These are the guys the GOP is protecting. We couldn't even get carriers to pick up customer orders on their carrier accounts because of our unwillingness to pay them for our own past due. Because someone insisted on paying out bonuses, the company couldn't stay open and closed about 6 months after paying out the last bonuses. I'm not a Democrat or a liberal, I'm an American. An American who's tired of GOP'ers putting the blame on the little guy while their buddies take bonuses that cause businesses to not be able to pay their bills. An American who doesn't drink the kool-aid anyone is selling because I look to the right solution instead of the party one. I'm self employed now, I refuse to work for another Corporate mindset that will run a company into ruin just to pay out a bonus. I'm working to become the next paradigm in business by creating an organization that treats it's employees fairly, it's customers with respect and doesn't pay out bonuses to execs. If working in a low stress, high pay environment isn't good enough then I don't need you.

      Herman Cain supported TARP, bailing out the banks with taxpayer dollars. He was Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, and has stated that he doesn't think there's a need to audit the Fed, because "there are no secrets." He suggested that people who have questions about the private bank's manipulation of fiat currency, using inflation as a way to channel the wealth of the poor and middle class to the banks, the corporate elite and their political cronies should just "call them up and let one of their PR people" explain things to them. I'm all for personal responsibility, capitalism (not crony capitalism) and small government, but Mr. Cain was not only "insensitive" (there's a word he should be familiar with) he was WRONG. Our central bank is the root of our problems.
